Inheritance Cycle

Oh my lordy! I just finished reading Inheritance (book 4 of the story of Eragon) and my oh my! It was so good! I personally liked it. I have been waiting to read this book for what seemed like forever and then I finally  had time to read it! I liked the twists and turns throughout the story and the unexpected captures of queens. What surprised me most of all was Murtaghs change in character, showing his vulnerability.
I was surprised by the negative comments about Inheritance, but I understand where the reviewer's coming from. Some of the things he brings up, I completely understand his frustration.

Sea Folk Preview Preface & Chapter 1
(sadly, I have no idea where this story is going to take me. I know the beginning but not the ending.)
(And this isn't quite perfect yet so feel free to point out errors!)
PREFACE

Beneath the surface of the wide vast ocean, there is life that thrives in the nurturing waters. Though the way is harsh, life gives way to death and death feeds new life.
Sometimes those who are not of the sea, come to hunt the bounty of life, but sometimes they’re motives are darker than others.

CHAPTER ONE
Brill

Brill struggled with the fishing nets, her arms too weak to move the heavy netting. She tugged and pulled but no amount of strength would get the nets out of the water. She lightly climbed off the jagged rocks and into the water. She soon found the source of the problem; a loop of the netting had caught on a rock and was holding it fast. She frowned and produced a knife carved from granite.
She found the knife from an abandoned ship; it had seemed the humans were attacked by their own kind – the kind that sailed with the black flag marked with bones. Brill thought of her last knife as she cut the ropes. It had been made of a shiny sharp rock, but it had rusted so easily in the water. She’d been disappointed when it snapped from the rust; it had been so pretty.

PREVIEW OF CHAPTER 1 & 2 (I would love to put the whole thing on here, but sadly I can't b/c there are some very mean people who will steal content from writers. As a note; this story is about Dragons b/c I am in love with Dragons)
(Feel free to point out errors!)
Chapter One
Garrett

“Jump Garrett!” my friends urged me as they swam in the dark water below the rocks. I grinned and took a flying leap off the rocks and into the cold water. I opened my eyes when the water surrounded my body, bubbles tickling my face. Another splash hit the water and my best friend Richard joined me under the water. Together we swam to the surface.
Water flew as I shook my hair, spraying Richard and Richard’s younger brother Tom. Blinking rapidly, my third eyelid slid sideways across my eyes, cleaning the salt from them.
Tom giggled, wiping the water from his face, “Garrett show us your tricks again!”
I blushed, I felt embarrassed by my ‘talents’ as Tom liked to call them, “No, not now Tom. Why don’t you show us your underwater somersault?” I urged Tom so I wouldn’t have to bring attention to myself.
“Pleeease Garrett!” Tom begged, his eyes widening into saucers, reminding me of the time he tried to convince his mother to allow him to bring home a snake that was bigger than he was.
I sighed; I wasn’t going to get away without doing a trick. “Ok, just this once.”
Tom squealed, and paddled forwards in excitement. I sank down into the cold water, and searched for the fire in my chest. The fire flared and hot air gathered in my lungs. I exhaled into the water, steam rising from the bubbles like a hot spring erupting from the ground.

Hey there!

Been busy with writing, though I'm nowhere to being even close to done with the manuscript, I just hope this story is a shorty. Maybe a 200 page book or something, but anyways, I've been downloading a lot of free books off Amazon onto my kindle (most of them tips about writing) and I found a website for Writers Digest and I think it's one of the most helpful websites on the internet. I knew Writers Digest had a website, but I had NO idea how GREAT it is. Ya'll should check it out sometime because I found it very helpful!!!
